About FIC

The Foundation for Integrated Care (FIC) is a non-governmental organization established in 2020. The organization was established to provide integrated public health services to the populace through sustainable health and well-being interventions that tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience, and access. Health and livelihoods are inextricably linked; therefore, it is necessary to prioritize integrated approaches to provide essential care to the populace. FIC supports the provision of integrated care by addressing the constraints to the provision of quality healthcare services through initiatives, technical assistance, and support to strengthen the country’s health system. FIC specifically focuses on support to Primary Healthcare Centers, Youth and Adolescents health, and other relevant social interventions.

Project Description

Youth and adolescence are integral parts of every nation and community development. Economic and social wellbeing of the young people have a strong influence on the development of any community and more importantly the social stability of the community. Young people constitute about 1/3 of Nigeria’s population, and encounter a lot of health and development issues, which include high rates of unwanted pregnancy, unsafe abortion, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, substance abuse, nutritional problems, and violence. Considering the myriad of youth and adolescence health issues and quest for community oriented initiatives, FIC set up the Youth and Adolescent Health (YAH) project, which is designed to empower and equip groups of young people to drive actions towards healthy practices among youths and adolescents. The YAH project is also aimed to drive changes in practice and policy in local communities among the youths, adolescents, and the major field actors.

Objective of the YAH Program

The objective of this project is to improve Youth and Adolescence health in the country leveraging the different communities through creation of a formidable community of practice to considerably get young people informed of their health and improve their healthy practices in a bid to reduce the associated health issues. The following specific objectives being considered for the second cohort are;
  • Raise and equip a new cadre of Youth and Adolescent Health (YAH) fellows within the community.
